The Manipur Rural Institute Society, Formerly called the Rural Education Society, Imphal is a registered Voluntary Organisation Working at the State Level in all field of development. It was established by some eminent educationists and social workers in the year 1970 under the pattern of other Rural Institute in India. The foundation & Donor Shri Ahongsangbam Gopal Singh (1909 -1973) had donated a piece of land of his own of construction of the office building of the Institute. In the year 1974, the society got registered with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi under the Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) bearing Reg. No. 194130011 of 1985. It is a leading Voluntary Organisation Having national character. It is purely a non – political, non - sectarian and non-profit making organisation.
